3 SIMPLE WAYS TO UPDATE YOUR OUTDOOR SPACE FOR THE SUMMER

Is your outdoor space ready for BBQ's and entertaining? With Memorial day being next week, I thought it was the perfect time to talk about summer backyard decor. I am sharing 3 easy looks to help you update your deck, patio and yard for this summers fun and entertaining.

Look #1 is perfect for a small porch, deck or patio. Even small spaces can have big style! I used a small patterned rug and some casual bistro seating.  Adding a couple pillows to the chairs will add a pop of color and extra comfort. I layered some planters in different sizes with cactus plants inside for low maintenance care. I like to use a couple lanterns to add a cozy feel to outdoor spaces. I placed a wood tray with a pitcher and stemless wine glasses on the table to finish off the look.

Look #2 Is a modern conversation area centered around this amazing cement fire pit.  I used a patterned rug with lots of texture and some sleek seating.  I only added a couple pillows to the chairs to add pattern without looking over-done. Again, I layered some planters in different sizes with cactus plants inside for low maintenance care. To finish off the look, I hung a couple lanterns to add a cozy feel while still looking modern.

Look #3 is a transition style with coastal flair.  I used a large striped rug and some comfortable conversational seating.  I added lots of pillows to the sofa and chairs for a pop of color and extra comfort. I layered some planters in different sizes with cactus plants inside for low maintenance care. I used some outdoor ottomans that can be used as a foot rest, extra seating or you can add a tray on top and use as a side table like I have here. To finish off the look, I placed different lanterns around the space to add a cozy feel.

For less than $1500 You can create a wonderful space in your own back yard with just a few large pieces (Seating and table), a rug and some accessories. Which look is your favorite? Let us know in the comment section below! Want to get these looks? Keep reading below for links!

My latest obsession is wide mouth vases with green leafs or fresh flower spilling over its edges. You can use these vases anywhere in your home but my favorite places to use them is on a kitchen island or near the sink.

I love statement wallpaper but for some, wallpaper can be scary or maybe you rent your home and can't make big changes. A great way to get that statement pattern into your home without the big commitment is roman shades or drapery in a statement fabric.

Cutting boards are the perfect mix of form and function. They come in all kinds of shapes and finishes to suit every decor style and I dont see them going out of style. I like to use wood boards, leaning them against the back splash to create layers. Pair them with pretty salt & pepper shakers and crocks full of wood utensils for a easy style.

You can add all these ideas together to create a Pinterest-worthy kitchen in your own home. Want to get these looks in your home now? Check out the links below!

SMALL SPACES, BIG STYLE

SMALL SPACES, BIG STYLE

Today I want to share with you three small rooms with big style. I have designed a bedroom, living room and dining room mixing some high end and low budget pieces. I am highlighting my favorite pieces from Pottery Barns small spaces collection. All the small space pieces have that high end look without the high price. I love that they are smaller scale and can fit in those tiny city apartments or long and narrow rooms (Like my family room!).

MODERN BATHROOM REMODEL

MODERN BATHROOM REMODEL

The project we are currently working on is remodeling our outdated master bathroom. Its footprint is tiny and it had this huge bathtub that took up most of the room. I’m a big fan of relaxing in a nice hot, bubble bath. Unfortunately, here the hot water runs out long before you get this large tub filled up. We decided to replace the tub with a walk-in shower to really maximize the space.

Modern Kitchen Designs

I love being in my kitchen, I think in another life I would have been a pastry chef. I love making yummy treats or a delicious dinner for my family to enjoy. The sights, the smells, I love it all. My husband and I have lived in a lot of different style homes over the last ten years. Some kitchens I have loved and others I found it hard to work in.
