My experience with woven roller shades

Today, I am sharing with you the Bali Light Filtering Roller Shade I just installed in our master bedroom. The light filtering shade gives us the privacy we need but doesn’t block out the natural light that floods our room. I love that these shades have a clean, modern feel and take up less visual space making it the perfect option for any room.

Roller shades have gotten a big update recently and I am loving them! They can feel modern, almost disappearing so they are not competing with the rest of the room. They can bring in a beautiful, woven texture to help a room that feels flat. With options for varied opacities, they can help filter the light while adding privacy. You can even get blackout lining to help you sleep better. One of the features I really love is that they block damaging UV rays and reduce heat transmittance.

I purchased these custom Bali Light Filtering Roller Shades from Home Depot online! These shades have a very affordable price point and I was lucky enough to catch mine on a 40% off sale. Ordering these shades online was super easy to do. First, it will ask you the mount style you want. I choose the inside mount option to minimalize bulk, so I measured the inside window width and height. Then, I plugged the numbers into the online form and proceeded to look through the color/style options. There were so many great patterns in different colors, there was options from solid white to medium toned, woven textured shades. I wanted my shades to blend in seamlessly with the rest of the room, so I choose Scene White Hot 48601 with a 3% openness.

After you select your shade fabric, you will choose your lift. I love the option to have the shade motorized and was seriously tempted to get that option. After a lovely daydream of opening my shade with the push of a button from my bed, I ended up choosing the white plastic chain option to stick within my budget. If you have small children, I highly recommend the cordless lift to eliminate the possibility of cord entanglement. Next you choose the side you want the pull on and the roll direction of the shade, I choose standard. You will have the chance to add a valance in all different styles, I choose none for my shade. Then you check out and it ships to you in a couple weeks!

Installation was super easy and only took about 15-20 minutes. All I needed was a tape measure, pencil and a drill but you could also use a screwdriver in place of the drill. Now that the shade is up, I hung my favorite drapes on a brand new modern curtain rod in soft gold. You won’t believe the price on this rod! It looks like my favorite rod from West Elm but at a much lower price point.

I love that this shade gives us privacy without sacrificing the bright light that floods the entire space. Our master bedroom is far from done, we still haven’t received our new bed! But, I am so happy with the look of this shade, it almost disappears so your eyes are draw to the statement pieces in the room. If you are needing some privacy but don’t want to make your room feel dark, give these shades a chance!
